Unique Wines from One of Boston's Top Collections
With wine at the forefront of the Meritage experience, guests are greeted upon arrival by a sophisticated and engaging wine bar that has also become the gathering place for the many Boston Wine Festival luminaries who visit Meritage throughout the year. The white marble-topped wine bar features wines from around the globe, sharable dishes, and an ever-changing menu of wine flights and themed by-the-glass lists. Led by Advanced Sommelier Nicholas Daddona and his team of sommeliers, the wine program at MERITAGE RESTAURANT + WINE BAR is known for its extensive and varied collection.
“Meritage offers one of the most comprehensive wine lists in New England. We are excited not only by the hard-to-find classic bottles, but by offering wines to our guests from new and compelling producers throughout the world,” says Nicholas Daddona. “With over 750 different labels on the menu, and well over 100 options for under $100, the Meritage wine experience is approachable for oenophiles and novices alike.”

Nicholas has become one of the increasing numbers of Sommeliers ‘behind the wine list’ in America’s top restaurants. He was bitten by the wine bug early while attending university and began working in restaurants with a focus in beverage. Nick’s charismatic personality and his ability to passionately communicate food and wine play an everyday roll with staff and guests. Always putting education first, Nick is Board Member Emeritus for the Boston Sommelier Society, a non-profit group whose sole purpose is furthering wine education throughout greater Boston.
As Sommelier and Wine Director at the Boston Harbor Hotel and its fine dining Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar, he maintains an comprehensive list that includes vertical listings, winery exclusives – and a few surprises. The most exciting thing about his position at the hotel is having the opportunity to work closely with the kitchen team to bring guests a unique and wonderful wine experience.
He has received acclaim from Boston press and public alike. In an article published by the Boston Globe, Nick was quoted describing his approach to wine as an experience to be enjoyed without pretension; a philosophy he still holds dear.
Nicholas is pursuing the Master Sommelier certification through the Court of Masters Sommeliers Americas and is currently an Advanced Sommelier. He is a contributor to Stephen Tanzer’s Winophilia website, and was named Boston’s top sommelier by Improper Bostonian magazine. Nick jokes of his parents' reaction in telling them his career choice in wine, but notes that the importance of good food and the pleasures of long meals are a legacy from his childhood. Nick's constant passion for discovering new and exciting wine, while creating innovative food pairings, along with his gracious hospitality, have made him an integral part of Meritage Restaurant and the Boston Harbor Hotel.
